Tips for the ultimate Byron Bay girls getaway

Byron Bay makes for the perfect long weekend away with the girls… leaving any kind of work or loved ones or children or pets behind. We have compiled a list of 10 of our favourite things that are worth including on any girls’ getaway itinerary.

1. Lighthouse Walk

It’s a must. We recommend going really early (just after sunrise) or just before the sun goes down. The light at either end of the day is seriously spectacular. Jump on the track near the corner of Lawson and Massinger Streets in town and head off. There are lots of stairs and big hills in parts, but it’s all very worth it. The views will blow your mind. If you are walking between August and November you will be blessed with many whale sightings and most likely dolphins as well.

2. Yoga

Would it even be a trip to Byron Bay without yoga? Take advantage of the complimentary, daily morning yoga at the Resort. Or, get all stretchy with Bess and Tahl, two of Byron Bay’s most sought after yoga teachers. Their beautiful studio Creature Yoga offers a lovely range of classes, and makes for the perfect way to start or end the day. Be sure to book in early as their classes tend to fill up very quickly.

3. Lunch at Kouzina

A gorgeous little Greek-inspired cafe in the heart of the Industrial Estate. If you close your eyes you might even think you are actually in Greece. It’s gorgeous. Grab a table with the girls in their sunny outdoor courtyard and enjoy a big shared platter of Greek deliciousness.

4. Nails at Polished Byron Bay

Polished Byron Bay is a brand new non-toxic, vegan and cruelty-free foot and nail spa in the heart of town. This lovely light-filled space is Byron’s latest beauty destination and makes the perfect place to go with the girls for a bit of pampering and an unparalleled manicure, pedicure and reflexology experience.

5. Massage at Eléme Day Spa

To keep the pampering flowing, book in for a massage with the gorgeous team at Eléme Day Spa. Whether you’re in need of a facial, super-circulation stimulation, mammoth detoxification, skin firming, smoothing, tightening, lifting, fixing or the ultimate muscle-melting rubdown, Eléme Day Spa has got you covered.

6. Shop up at local Byron labels

It wouldn’t be a girls trip without a spot of shopping and there are so many awesome local brands to check out. We recommend heading to the Industrial Estate where you will find local labels such as Naganta, Rowie The Label, Tigmi Trading, and, of course, sustainable St. Agni (our personal favourite) among others. We love St. Agni so much we’ve dressed our entire Experience Curator team in their clothing. Pop past the front desk for some outfit inspo.

7. Surf lesson with Rusty Miller Surf

Rusty Miller Surf is one of the original surf schools in Byron and Rusty holds an exclusive license for teaching ‘one-on-one’ lessons at Wategos. While the other girls are hanging out on the beach catching some rays, this could be a fun thing to do in turns.

8. Long lunch at Shelter

Lennox is a gorgeous little beach town only 20 minutes south of Crystalbrook Byron. Shelter is our go-to spot for a long lunch. A home away from home, and keeper of ethical, seasonal and local produce, the staff are always super friendly, the cocktails are
always super fresh, and the food is delicious. The perfect place to spend a few hours with the girls wining and dining away the day.

9. Chase waterfalls

Grab your runners, togs, a bottle of water and head out to explore some of the many waterfalls near Byron Bay. Our favourite, Minyon Falls, is a 9km track and has a creek at the bottom where you can take a dip or grab a few totally insta-worthy pics of the 100-metre tall waterfall. We also love Killen Falls, located between Byron and Ballina. Don’t forget to pick up some snacks from the picturesque village of Tintenbar first.

10. Gin and tonics at Brookie's

Over 30 years ago, Pam & Martin Brook bought a rundown dairy farm and planted more than 35,000 subtropical rainforest trees transforming the landscape into a haven for birds and wildlife. Of the 25 botanicals used in their Brookie’s Byron Dry Gin, 17 are sourced locally, many from their own rainforest. Book in for one of their gin tours and stick around to enjoy some of their delicious gins.

On top of all these suggestions, don’t forget to also schedule in lots of time for nothingness. Lazying around at the infinity pool, resting, relaxing, napping on your private verandah, doing nothing - just as important on any girls trip, we think.
