Great food & wonderous surroundings
It was my husband Mike's 40th birthday, and I wanted to surprise him. This is a difficult thing to do when you have 3 year old and 18 month old daughters - small kids do not mix with clandestine operations! But I managed to book us in for two nights without anyone becoming suspicious...
We live up in the hills of Wilsons Creek, a half hour drive from Byron at Byron, so our adventure didn't involve a long commute. But it was still a wonderful adventure, as our photos attest. Much time was spent in the kids pool - and for the first time our just walking youngest daughter Indira was able to stand chest deep in the warmth and bob her head underwater - many, many, times.
A wondrous cake from L'Ultime organised by concierge sealed the deal of a splendiferous lunch, and the littlest member of our party obligingly slept in the pram as the remaining three of us ate and drank.
Mike even managed a yoga class in the morning - the first he had been to in 3 years (that is, the parenthood years) while the girls and I flopped and watched a movie in our suite. Night two was a continuation of great food and wondrous surroundings.
In fact, I was so blown away by the masterful architectural/environmental solution worked out by the resort and council, I even sent an email to Byron Shire Council to congratulate them (yes, I really did).
We had a wonderful time, and are keen to come back soon.
Cheers, Tracey Mansted
