The Byron at Byron Resort and Spa recognises it is a key business in the Byron Bay shire and as such, strives to support the local community where possible. Over the past three years The Byron at Byron Resort has supported key festivals and events including Byron Bay Underwater Festival, Whole Woman Festival, Byron Bay Writers Festival, Byron Bay Blues and Roots Festival and Byron Latin Fiesta. The Resort also supports many local charities through donating to Northern Rivers Community Foundation.

The Resort has developed a positive relationship with the Southern Cross University School of Tourism and each year employs several university students for their internships. This provides these students with hands on training and experience in hotel management. The Byron at Byron also sponsors the ‘Duncan Bennett Tourism Scholarship’ at Southern Cross University each year, named after a former employee who tragically lost his life.

The Byron at Byron Resort is a member of Northern Rivers Tourism, Byron United, Byron Bay Tourism and Byron Bay Visitors Centre, several staff members are volunteer board members of these organisations.

Byron Bay Underwater Festival

The Byron Underwater Festival is aimed at anyone wanting to experience Byron’s marine environment for themselves. You can dive, snorkel, kayak, photograph or even paint the underwater environment. The festival is proud to have the participation of one of the world’s diving legends and underwater pioneers, Neville Coleman. The 2008 Byron Underwater Festival will be held from 30 April to 4 May in Byron Bay.

Byron Blues & Roots Festival

The Annual International East Coast Blues & Roots Music Festival is held in Byron Bay over Easter long weekend. Around 70,000 people walked through the entry gates over five days in 2008 to experience music from the world’s finest global and local talent including soul, jazz, Latin, fusion, funk, swing, gospel, African, reggae, hip-hop, R&B, swamp rock, folk and alt-country. 2009 celebrates the 20th anniversary event.

Byron Bay Writers Festival

The Byron Bay Writers Festival had its beginnings in 1997, but since then the Festival has grown from a single venue event to fill four huge marquees and venues around town and sells 45,000 individual tickets. The guest list of more than one hundred respected contemporary Australian writers have participated through lectures, lunches, panels, conversations, launches and readings. The 2008 Writers Festival will take place between 25 – 27 July 2008.

Southern Cross University

The School of Tourism and Hospitality Management at Southern Cross University won the New South Wales Award for Excellence in Industry Education in 1997, 1998 and 1999. Southern Cross University was also the first University to win the Australian Tourism Award for Industry Education in 1999.

Northern Rivers Tourism

Northern Rivers Tourism is the Northern Rivers region's peak tourism industry body. NRT acts as a representative of tourism operators and liaison between Tourism NSW and the regional tourism industry. NRT advocates on behalf of the region's tourism interests and develops policy to effectively manage the core activities of marketing, industry development and coordination.

Byron United

Byron United are an organisation that is working to achieve prosperity for its members. Byron United represents the interests of over 300 business and tourism members, who enjoy a network of support and a combined voice on business and community interests.

Byron Bay Tourism

Byron Bay Tourism is an arm of Byron United who work develop the tourism industry for Byron Bay. Byron United represents the interests of over 300 business and tourism members, who enjoy a network of support and a combined voice on business and community interests.

Byron Bay Visitors Centre

Byron Visitor Centre is located in the heart of the Byron Bay township. Situated in the old Stationmaster's Cottage, the Visitors Centre provides information, maps and directions needed to make your holiday in Byron special.

Northern Rivers Community

The Northern Rivers Community Foundation in an independent philanthropic foundation providing sustainable and long term benefit to the northern rivers community. Their mission is to support the Northern Rivers region by gathering and growing donations in perpetuity, and targeting grants to community projects.
